Overview
This wild camping safari is a participation tour - clients are expected to pitch their' own tents, pack / unpack vehicle, and assist in the kitchen. This interaction is a great recipe for meeting other people and engaging with the local residents. The legendary Kruger National Park in South Africa is the area with the greatest diversity of wildlife in Africa. Born as the Sabie Reserve in 1898 to protect the wildlife from over-hunting, the area was enlarged and proclaimed as the Kruger National Park in 1926. The Park today not only protects the wildlife but also the cultural history of the area through museums and the preservation of historical sites. One of the best ways to experience these historical sites is via the standard and superior accommodations in the area. Some of the lodges are very colonial and instantly draw you back to the past with their old world feel.

Prior arrangements in this regard are essential. We will help if it is in any way possible.
Trailists provide their own liquid refreshments in the form of alcohol or any other cool drinks. Drinking water is provided as well as coffee and tea with a fruit juice as part of the bush breakfast. There are limited cooling facilities in each camp. Alcohol abuse will and cannot be tolerated
Routine
Trailists arrive at the trail camp late afternoon after a slow drive from the individual rest camps. Upon arrival guests are orientated or introduced to the camp and then given time to settle in and relax. After a wholesome meal the guests have the opportunity to sit around the fire, socialise, listen to night sounds and marvel at the stunning nightskies.
The mornings start before the crack of dawn with a cup of coffee, tea and a rusk after which the walk will start from camp or a drive might be taken out into the wilderness area to a point from where the morning walk will commence.
We return late morning and after a well-deserved brunch a siesta is a welcome treat till mid afternoon. The afternoon activity consists of a short walk and traditional “sun downers”. We return to camp where once again a well cooked meal is served to restore body and soul.
The second day is a repeat of the first day’s activities.

Namibia14 Day Tour |
|
|
Price per person: Euro 1350-00,US$1800-00
Tour Dates: 14 June – 27 June 2009 • 1 Sep - 14 Sep 2009 • 20 Sep - 3 Oct 2009 • 14 June – 27 June 2010
Day 1: Cederberg
We leave Cape Town in the morning and head north to the Cedarberg which is famous for its spectacular rock formations. These rocks are composed of sandstone and shale formations of the Cape Super group. The formations were deposited between 500 and 345 million years
ago. Here we will spend the night in a BB. (L, D).
Day 2: Namaqua National Park
As if by magic a tapestry of brilliant colours unfold enticingly along the winding roads of the Namaqua National Park. Butterflies, birds and long-tongued flies dart around among the flowers, seemingly overwhelmed by the abundance and diversity. Every turn in the road
paints an unforgettable picture: valleys filled with Namaqualand daisies and other spring flowers that pulse with sheer energy and joy. Next to some eye-catching succulents, a porcupine and a tall aloe pay witness to a baboon overturning a rock and pouncing on a scorpion. During early August and September, seemingly overnight, the dusty valleys of Namaqualand are transformed into a wonderland, carpeted with wild flowers. With its winter rainfall, Namaqualand is home to the richest bulb flora of any arid region in the world and more than a 1 000 of its estimated 3 500 plant species are found nowhere else on earth. We will spend our day here exploring the area. (B, L, D)
Day 3: Orange River, Felix Unite - Canoeing on river included
Today we cross the border to Namibia. Tonight we sleep at Felix. Crossing the border can take time so I would like to be prepared and have good timing for this. This is a camp on the banks of the Orange River on the Namibian side. If the kids want to go for a paddle then we can take them or if you just want to enjoy the landscape and river, you can do so as well. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Fish River Canyon - Camping
This is the oldest canyon in the world, older, even than the Grand Canyon – we spend the day game viewing and walking along the perimeter of the canyon itself. (B, L, D)
Day 5: Duisib Castle - Camping
This day is spent exploring the surrounding area and its historical attributes. (B, L, D)
Day 6: Sesriem – B&B
Today we sleep at a BB close to Sossusvlei, Sesriem Canyon, Dune 45 and Dead vlei – we will have a guided trip climbing one of these amazing shifting dunes of red sand – the hallmark of Namibia. The Sossusvlei, Namibia’s famous highlight in the heart of the Namib Desert, is a huge clay pan, enclosed by giant sand dunes. Some of the spectacular hills of sand are, at a height of 300 metres, the highest in the world. Only after a heavy rainfall, which is a rare event in this area, does the vlei fill with water. As the clay layers hardly allow any water infiltration, a turquoise lake will remain for quite some time.(B, L, D)
Days 7-8: Swakopmund – B&B
We can participate in a number of activities – scenic flights, fishing, Sky diving and sand boarding. The town is also called “Little Europe”. Own Expense Dinner (B)
Day 9: Spitzkoppe – Wild Camping
We camp wild in amongst these ‘sharp headed’ mountains with nothing but ‘vista’ all around – as far as the eye can see. Wild camping is when you don’t have running water and power. Everything we need we have to take with us in our vehicles. (B, L, D)
Day 10-11: Etosha National Park - Bungalow
Exploring the park’s abundant wildlife we spend the day gazing over the vast expanse of desert surrounding this ‘pan’ we visit two camps. They will be Okaukuejo and Nametoni. Most of the time game viewing in the day, midday spending time at the pool. (B, L, D)
Day 12-13: Ju/’Hoansi-San
The Living Museum of the Ju/’Hoansi-San gives visitors an interesting insight into the life of the friendly San. The Living Museum is an authentic open-air museum where guests can learn a lot about the traditional culture and the original way of living of the San. The
Ju/’Hoansi demonstrate and describe everything with great dedication and the guide translates into English. Almost every offered programme is interactive, because it is also great fun for the Ju/’Hoansi when the visitors try to shoot an arrow, experience the special Ju/’Hoansi rope skipping or try to sing an original song. We spend to days here camping. The day activity is included. (B, D)
Day 14: Windhoek
Today we head back to Windhoek and make our way home. (B) * Optional tailor-made
